Although she was a pro at indoor volleyball however, it was evident that her performance was above average. In her college profile, she played outside of the hitter middle blocker, as well as a setter throughout her volleyball time at high school. The results of her efforts were acknowledged by her being named 1999 Gatorade's National Circle of Champions Players of the Year. In 2001 when Ross was a sophomore studying at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. However, she continues to hold her lost parent near and dear.
